Limerick Scout County is delighted to announce the award of €148,440.96 in funding from the LEADER Rural Development Programme to support the redevelopment of Curraghchase Scout Centre, a much-loved facility that has been closed since 2019.

This significant investment will play a vital role in restoring and modernising the Curraghchase Scout Centre, ensuring it can once again serve as a safe, accessible, and inspiring space for scouting activities, youth development, and community engagement across Limerick and beyond.
The LEADER grant adds to an earlier €60,000 contribution from the JP McManus Benevolent Fund, bringing the total secured funding to over €208,000. Together, these funds will support essential redevelopment works, including building upgrades and safety improvements to enhance the site’s long-term viability.
“We are thrilled and deeply grateful for this support from the LEADER Rural Development Programme and the JP McManus Benevolent Fund. Curraghchase Scout Centre has been at the heart of scouting in Limerick for generations, and this funding brings us a major step closer to reopening the site for future generations of young people to learn, grow, and explore in the outdoors.”
Phillip Kelly, County Commissioner for Limerick Scout County
The Curraghchase Scout Centre, located on the edge of the scenic Curraghchase Forest Park, has long been a cornerstone of Scouting in Limerick. The redevelopment will allow it to continue its legacy as a centre for outdoor education, leadership training, and community development.
Limerick Scout County extends sincere thanks to West Limerick Resources CLG and all stakeholders involved in securing this funding, and looks forward to collaborating with partners, volunteers, and the wider community as redevelopment plans move forward in 2025/2026
